OTAN is pleased to announce that Dr. Devin Vodicka, Superintendent of Vista Unified School District, will be the keynote presenter at the seventh Technology and Distance Learning Symposium at Fresno Adult School , March 11 & 12.
Dr. Vodicka was one of only 30 Superintendents from across the United States that participated in the Superintendents Technical Working Group in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Education Office of Educational Technology and he was invited to the launch of the President's ConnectEd to the Future summit at the White House in November 2014.
Dr. Vodicka is an accomplished user of social media and regularly shares information regarding his district, student and teacher accomplishments, and state and national educational leadership news. He has Twitter accounts in both English (@dvodicka) and Spanish (@dvodickaSp).
A strong supporter of adult education, Dr. Vodicka leads Vista Unified’s 30 schools, including Vista Adult Education/ROP Program. Vista Adult School has provided leading educational services since 1977 and serves approximately 4,700 adult learners each year. Their WASC-accredited programs include Career Technical Education, Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education and English as a Second Language. Vista Adult School includes a Health Academy, Business Academy, Arts and Media Academy, and Culinary Arts Academy. Community education classes are also provided on a variety of topics. OTAN staff has delivered multiple face-to-face technology training sessions to Vista Adult School educators. This training included workshops on online privacy, Google applications, Open Educational Resources, social media, Internet resources for teachers and productivity tools.
