U.S. Department of Education Visits the California Department of EducationPosted on 03/02/2016
Mr. Johan E. Uvin, Assistant Secretary of Education for Career, Technical and Adult Education (OCTAE) of the U.S. Department of Education, visited the California Department of Education on January 13, 2016. He met with Tom Adams, Deputy Superintendent, Instruction and Learning Support Branch; Russell Weikle, Director, Career and College Transitions Division; Christian Nelson, Administrator, Adult Education Office (AEO); several AEO consultants; Adult Education Block Grant partners from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office; and local adult education program administrators from the field.
Mr. Uvin also visited one of the larger adult education programs in the U.S. at the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Along with regional representatives from the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Mr. Uvin was in Sacramento to speak as part of a Fresh Federal Perspectives plenary session at the 2016 Youth Program hosted by the California Workforce Association in Sacramento.
