Join a MOOC to develop open educational resources for Adult Basic Education This free online course is offered by Designers for Learning External link opens in new window or tab , a nonprofit based in Chicago providing instructional design support through service-learning. We have a dual mission in this upcoming course to offer curriculum development support to adult educators, as well as experiential learning opportunities for those seeking instructional design professional development. This 12-week virtual course will take place September 12 – December 4, 2016 on Canvas Network, a massive open online course (MOOC) platform.

Over 2,000 participants enrolled in the prior implementation of this course that centers on the design and development of open educational resources (OER) for adult basic education (ABE). In this project-based MOOC, participants network with others in the adult education and instructional design fields, and gain instructional design experience while developing educational materials that will be made available for free to adult educators and learners on both OER Commons External link opens in new window or tab and Canvas Commons External link opens in new window or tab .
